My package came with a booklet (downloadable), but it doesn't have anything to do with the audio part. :(

I think, though, that the repetition in Pimsleur is different than the repetition of the audio-lingual method. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I believe it's different. I think it may be because we are asked to RESPOND also, instead of just repeat and the repetition is required for confidence building.

What continues to drive me nuts is not being able to see the words transliterated. There are consonant combinations that are very difficult to hear and a simple transliteration of the word/phrase would end that difficulty so easily. I don't know why Pimsleur doesn't offer a transcript as part of their package. Not to be used as a reader, but just for reference purposes. Or at least a list of expressions/phrases.

I haven't tried the Fluency Fast Download. I did take a Fluency Fast Class as part of NTPRS in Denver. I'm still plugging along with the Pimsleur, though switched to Egyptian Arabic instead of Eastern, mainly because Egyptian is closer to my heritage language (which I do not speak), Maltese.

Very good site you have here but I was wanting to know if you knew of any forums that cover the same topics discussed in this article? I'd really love to be a part of online community where I can get feed-back from other experienced people that share the same interest. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Many thanks! Also, please check out my site http://www.facebook.com/notes/surveillance-gadgets-deals-online/review-of-skylink-sc-100-security-system-deluxe-kit/132472670200002

Great reflection. I feel the same way. Actually I really like the program and I have do it with Portuguese, Mandarin and Thai- but I need to see it. So I supplement the materials with written ones. In terms of an audio program with true comprehensible input and repetition, it is great. I hope you're well.

I do agree with all of the ideas you've presented in your post. They are really convincing and will certainly work. Still, the posts are very brief for beginners. May just you please prolong them a little from subsequent time? Thank you for the post.

Hi Scott,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. I am currently trying to learn Twi (national language of Ghana) with Pimsleur, simply because it's the only course out there available in The Netherlands. I have experienced exactly the same things as you describe. I have noticed also that, as a student, I DO feel the need to repeat the words myself, to "feel the words in my mouth" as you put it. Sometimes as students we like or need things we wouldn't offer as TPRS-teachers. I find that interesting to notice. However, I wouldn't let my TPRS-students repeat, even though they'd like to do that. As a teacher, we can more easily see the whole picture. As a student', we're only focussed on our needs and likes here and now.
