Webinars

Introduction

web•i•nar: \we-b?-när\      a live online educational presentation during which participating viewers can submit questions and comments—etymology: web + seminar.

from: ”webinar.” Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary. 2010.

A teachforjune webinar is an online presentation/workshop that is accessible anywhere there is an internet connection. Generally, if you can watch a YouTube® video, you’re good to go! But just to make sure, you can test your computer settings and internet connection here.

Participating in a teachforjune webinar is much like attending any other presentation or workshop. You will be able to listen to and see the presenter, view the presentation, ask questions, and obtain handouts all from the comfort of your closest internet-connected computer!

What makes webinars great is that people from all across the world can participate in the same workshop at the same time for a fraction of the cost of a traditional workshop/presentation. There are no transportation or lodging expenses, you don’t have to eat out, you don’t have to use your gas. You can sit back in the comfort of your office or living room and participate in a great presentation.

How does it work?

When you register for a teachforjune webinar, you will receive a confirmation email. If you’ve never participated in a teachforjune webinar before, you will receive your personal login to the system. Your account will be created generally within 24 hours of your registration. Your user name will be the email address you registered with and you will be sent a temporary password. When you log in the first time using this temporary password, you will be asked to create a personal, permanent password. Keep this password safe. You will use it for all future webinars and recordings you register for. Approximately 1 day before the webinar, you will receive an email with the webinar link. You will also get a “reminder” email approximately 30 minutes before the start of the webinar.

Up to 30 minutes prior to the scheduled webinar time, use the webinar link plus your personal login information to log in to the webinar. It’s best to log in at least 5 to 10 minutes early to familiarize yourself with the software, setup your specific computer/internet settings, and to work out any technical issues before the webinar begins.

When you log in to the webinar, you will enter the virtual “lobby.” There will be an auto-advancing information window that has a lot of important information to better your experience and familiarize you with the software. Also, you can use this time to set up your connection speed and your audio settings and to download any of the webinar’s handouts.

During the webinar, if you have a microphone built into your computer or on a headset, you can ask your questions or make comments orally just like you would in any other workshop. If you don’t have a microphone or prefer not to speak, you may use the chat box to type your questions and comments.

After the webinar ends, you will receive a follow-up email that will give you any additional information about the webinar and the link to the webinar recording. You will have access to this recording for two weeks following the airing of the webinar so that you may rewatch or review any part of the webinar.

It’s that simple! Really it is!
